Get your free estimateDoorKing Welding & Fabrication: The Long Beach Owner’s Guide
We stock, weld, and fabricate DoorKing-compatible gate parts in Long Beach, with typical installed prices running $220 to $680 depending on the bracket, hinge assembly, or frame component that failed. Most welding jobs on a DoorKing swing or slide gate are done same-day once we’ve seen the damage, and we carry the common fabrication stock on the truck. The way Long Beach owners usually find us is simple: the gate starts sagging, a hinge tears loose, or a weld cracks at the stress point and the opener strains against metal that won’t hold straight anymore.
Warden Gate Repair Long Beach is an independent service provider. We’re not affiliated with DoorKing, but we’ve worked on their operators and gate hardware for years. The parts we fabricate are built to match or beat the original spec, and every job gets a written price before the first bead of weld goes down.
Which DoorKing Models This Applies To
DoorKing swing gates and slide gates share a lot of structural hardware, but there’s a gotcha: the hinge and bracket spacing changed between the older 6000-series swing actuators and the newer 6500/6524 models, so a bracket welded for one won’t always sit flush on the other. The same goes for slide-gate track brackets: the 9000-series and the 9100/9150 series use different roller heights, which changes where the fabricated support needs to sit. Before we order or cut anything, we check the model tag on the operator itself or the hinge plate stamp on the gate leaf.
For most Long Beach DoorKing gates, we recommend OEM-spec steel for anything load-bearing: hinge plates, fork brackets, and actuator mounts. Quality aftermarket stock works fine for non-structural pieces like cover brackets or cable guides, but when a 400-pound gate leaf swings on it, we want the same gauge steel the factory called for. The decision comes down to one question: is this part holding weight or just holding position? Cole Rafferty still writes that answer on every quote before it gets typed up.
Styles & brands we work with

Signs Your DoorKing Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags at the latch end: When the top hinge weld starts to tear, the leaf drops a quarter inch or more. The operator still moves it, but it drags on the closer and grinds metal on metal. That sag is the weld failing, not the opener.
- You hear a popping or creaking when the gate moves: Cracked welds make noise under load. The gate flexes at the break, and each open-close cycle works the crack wider. Ignoring it turns a re-weld into a full bracket replacement.
- The actuator bracket wiggles when the gate is moving: If the fork or mounting plate shakes while the arm extends or retracts, the anchor bolts or the welded base are loosening. DoorKing operators push hard, and a loose mount kills the motor gears fast.
- Rust staining runs down from a joint: Coastal air in Long Beach gets into any pinhole in the paint. Rust bleed at a weld joint means moisture has reached the seam and the steel is thinning from the inside out.
- The gate hits the close stop harder than it used to: When a fabricated bracket bends or a welded roller support shifts, the gate travels a different arc. It overshoots or slams the stop, and the limit switches can’t correct for a frame that’s moved.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Long Beach, most DoorKing welding and fabrication work runs between $220 and $680 installed. A single hinge re-weld with grinding and repainting typically lands around $220 to $320. Fabricating a new actuator mounting bracket from steel stock and fitting it on-site runs $350 to $500. Full hinge assembly replacement on a heavy swing gate, including cutting out the old steel and welding in new, sits in the $500 to $680 range. Every price includes the steel or stock material, welding consumables, grinding, and a rust-inhibiting coat of paint matched to the gate.
You get the written number before we touch the gate. Not an estimate range, not a “we’ll see how it goes” – the actual price, agreed up front. If the weld fails within a year, the 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the return visit and the re-work at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
Here’s the honest split. You can safely inspect your DoorKing gate: look for visible cracks in the weld seams, rust bleeding, and bolts that have pulled loose. You can check whether the gate leaf sags by measuring from the ground at both ends. What you shouldn’t do is attempt the welding yourself. Gate welds are load-bearing structural work under constant cycling stress. A homeowner-grade welder with no experience on gate frames produces cold welds that look solid and snap within weeks, often sending a few hundred pounds of steel off its path.
The other part most people miss: you have to support the gate leaf properly before cutting out old steel. If the leaf shifts mid-job, you’re now fighting a sprung frame and a worse alignment than you started with. We bring the stands, the right rod for the steel gauge, and the experience to get it straight the first time. If you’re in Long Beach and want the number before we start, call (562) 512-6788.
FAQs
A properly welded bracket or hinge on a DoorKing gate lasts 10 to 15 years in Long Beach’s coastal air if the steel was cleaned before welding and the finished joint was sealed and painted. The welds we see fail early are almost always the ones that were never prepped or coated after the original install. If you’re near the water, the salt air cuts that lifespan by a few years unless you schedule a rust-touch-up every couple seasons. Call (562) 512-6788 and we’ll take a look for free.
Often yes, but it depends on the crack location and the remaining steel thickness. A single crack at a hinge plate can be ground out, welded, and reinforced with a gusset for about a third the cost of full replacement. If the steel has rusted thin around the crack, welding just blows holes in it, and patching becomes more expensive than cutting the bracket out fresh. We’ll tell you which path makes sense after seeing the metal in person.
Most single-bracket or hinge welds take 60 to 90 minutes on site, plus cool-down time before the gate is cycled under load. Full fabrication of a new bracket can run two to three hours. Emergency same-day welding is available for Long Beach gates that won’t close, and we stock the common DoorKing bracket patterns on the truck.
We stock common DoorKing swing-gate hinge plates and fork brackets for the 6000-series and 6500-series on our service vehicles. For slide-gate roller supports and custom mount plates, we fabricate from steel stock on site, cut to match the exact bolt pattern and roller height of your operator. We also carry parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls if you have a mixed setup.
